Small Biz Saturday: Sweet Petite Seating | Hyde Park Moms
Tell us all about yourself! When did you start Sweet Petite Seating?

I am originally from Long Island, NY. I met my husband, Luke, 12 years ago and moved here to Cincinnati. We’ve been married 10 years and have 3 little girls, Adrianna, Mia and Eva. My 4 year anniversary of launching SPS is this month!! Time flies!

What was the inspiration behind starting your business?

As a mother of 3 girls and an aunt to 18 nieces and nephews, I attended and hosted countless numbers of parties where I felt there was a need for children’s seating.  I’ve even been asked to BRING my own little chairs, or anything I had to accommodate a friend’s child’s party. You can rent nice tables and chairs for adults, so why not the little ones?! When that chocolate cake is getting passed out, having a place for kids to sit and eat (instead of your nice couch) comes in very handy. Plus, it provides that wow factor for any party and brings your party theme to life. Not to mention, the kids LOVE having their own space to eat and socialize

What did you do before you opened your business?

SPS is actually, my sweet little side gig. My full time job is a pharmaceutical rep but my weekends and holiday are devoted to keeping my clients happy by delivering and setting up party seating 🙂

Name one thing that makes you unique in your space or industry?

SPS supplies the cutest, most versatile stylish chairs and tables that accommodate any party theme, any gender, and creates the wow factor for your party. We specialize in “child-size” seating only for all your little party guests.

What’s your favorite thing about being a business owner that services the Hyde Park area?

We currently can accommodate parties up to 55 kids. Any occasion where children are in attendance; birthdays, weddings, tea parties, holiday events. We deliver and pick up post-party and offer pick up and drop off options as well, to accommodate client’s needs and preferences.

How has our community had an impact on your business?

I’ve booked several parties in the Hyde Park area, which has to lead to many more clients, simply from word of mouth. When you host a party and 10-15 moms show up, they ask “Where did you get this adorable seating?!” and it stems from there.

Advice for anyone wanting to start their own business?

Do your research, get to know the business you want to start inside and out, expect hiccups, expect a learning curve, but follow your gut and make the leap!

How do you balance being a business owner, wife, and mama?

Add in full time job too—ha! I guess being a New Yorker, I thrive off the hustle and bustle of spinning a lot of plates. It’s challenging at times, but the best part is that I can teach my girls work ethic and how to be successful. They are my little interns—they do most of the cleaning of all the tables and chairs! They love it and get paid in ice cream when they do a good job

Future plans for your business?

COVID19 has definitely had an impact on the party business world, so for now, we are sticking with simple, smaller-scale parties. One day, we may venture out to doing more slumber party rentals and spa parties with additional décor rental items.

Any special, sales, or deals our Hyde Park Moms can look out for?

We always run specials for out holiday rentals. We get a lot of requests for kid’s Halloween parties, Friendsgiving parties, and Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukkah dinners. Don’t for get about the little ones this holiday season! Look out for our specials on Instagram and FB!
