Natural Way to Disinfect Toys | Hyde Park Moms

Hand Foot Mouth – The new Chicken Pox. Nothing is more of a nightmare than this miserable sickness. It seems that it’s everywhere in our neighborhood this year and luckily we have only have 1 very mild case of it in our home. BUT with the possibility of it coming around again, I felt the need to disinfect our home – probably a good idea to do this anyway every few weeks or months (depending on how germaphobic you are). Here’s a simple way to disinfect naturally without using any harsh chemicals. Secret ingredient Tea Tree Oil! It has antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal and antiseptic properties that can get a really deep clean. Commonly used in beauty products and for health, tea tree oil is a versatile, safe and natural option to use for cleaning around the house. Here’s the homemade concoction that I would recommend. Stay, healthy Mamas!

Tea Tree Oil Cleanser

  • 1 cup of hot water
  • 1 cup of distilled white vinegar
  • 6-8 drops of tea tree oil

Mix this all together and let it sit for 10 minutes. Add to a spray bottle, or just dump toys into the mixture for a few minutes, then rinse and dry.
