Meet Kate | Hyde Park Moms

What’s your favorite thing about living in Hyde Park?
My husband and I lived in Chicago before moving back to the Cincinnati area, where we were used to walking everywhere (I didn’t even own a car).  We love being able to walk across the street and have several great restaurant & bar options at our disposal. Not to mention, the people are amazing!

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
Leo (2) & Stella (1)

Favorite things to do with your kids around town (can be outside of HP)?
Alms Park, the Zoo, and in the summertime you can find us living at the pool at Cincinnati Sports Club!  Our youngest just turned one, so we finally feel like we are able to get out and do more around town. The carousel was a huge hit recently; so we are looking forward to spending more time down at the Banks this summer!

Do you have a favorite local store, fitness class or restaurant and why?
There are too many to choose just one!  But some of our favorites include Forno (including their weekend brunch) and Unwind.  On the weekends, we love getting juices or smoothies from The Weekly Juicery, and of course the Hyde Park Farmers Market when it is in season!

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I recently left the corporate world after spending over a decade in Marketing, and now focus all of my creative energy on my fashion & lifestyle blog (www.RoseyKate.com) and Instagram (RoseyKateStyle).  I have always been passionate about fashion, and my career in marketing has mostly been focused in the digital space, so it felt like a natural fit to blend the two together.  I love curating looks and providing outfit inspiration & styling tips to help women build their confidence!
I also have zero shame, so if you see me out posing on the sidewalk with a photographer or even a tripod, please say hello!

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
The support I received as a first time mom here was incredible!  Just having the support network and advice (plus friendship!) from other moms while navigating the newborn phase was invaluable.

Tips for Balancing it all? Motherhood, career, family and social life?
Oh gosh. Still trying to figure this one out! Sometimes I feel like I’ve got it mastered, then other days, I feel like I’m barely hanging on. My best tip is to take one day at a time and lean on other moms for advice (or just venting!) when you need to! And lots and lots of wine 😉

What is the best advice you have received as a mom?
Enjoy this season of life because it goes so quickly.  It’s so true that the days are long but the years are short. When I’m having a bad day or hair pulling moment, I try to remind myself of this, and remember that someday I’ll be missing these little moments. Oh, and write everything down (like funny sayings & milestones) because you will forget them in an instant!

What is the best advice you would like to give to a new mom?
There is no perfect one way of doing things.  Also, a mother’s intuition is HUGE – just trust your gut and know that at the end of the day, you’re doing your best and that is enough!
