Holiday Hair with Mitchell's Salon Hyde Park | Hyde Park Moms
Now more that ever, I am embracing the Holidays. I think it’s mainly because my oldest is finally understanding Christmas and is enjoying the festive lights, candy canes, presents and even Santa (well…hit or miss). It has given this time of year a refreshing new  meaning and I can’t be enjoying it more!
With all of the parties and events happening, and no time to get ready,  I was looking for some easy ways to upgrade my hair for the Holidays. Mitchell’s Salon teamed up with Hyde Park Moms to bring you an easy, casual up-do that can be worn with jeans or to a black tie! Nicholena was an amazing stylist and gave me some great tips to share with you. If you have the time, book a spot with her!
I hope you enjoy and give it a try! Tag #HPMoms and Mitchell’s Salon if you nail this look 😉

It’s all about the Products

Above are the products she used on me to help achieve the look.

  1. Dry Shampoo. Start with dirtier hair so you have a better chance of everything staying in place. She started by spraying this at my roots and at the base of my hair under layers. Massage to give it some texture and volume. Can’t recommend the Bumble and Bumble one above!
  2. Texture & Volume Spray. The product above, Swept Up by Oribe, is AMAZING for giving you volume – great to use even when you’re wearing your hair down. Spray at the root and massage in. Brush lighting when finished so it’ not so messy looking 🙂
  3. Quality Hairspray. Make sure your final style stays in place through all the dancing 🙂

PROOF! It can be done at home!

Step 1

Apply the dry shampoo and texture/volume products.

Step 2

Give a quick curl to the top layers of your hair. You can do your whole head a day before or same day!

Step 3

Start with the front pieces – pretty large sections – and pin it with an X using the bobby
*PRO TIP: The wavy part of the bobby pin goes against your head.*

Step 4

Repeat with more sections – there really is no right or wrong way! Just pin it to make it look how you want.
*PRO TIP: Don’t open the bobby pin so you can get more hair. Just pin it in without stretching it open too much!*
Once you have all the sections pinned, you will have a bunch of loose hair hanging out.

Step 5

Tuck in the loose ends with 1 pin – again no right or wrong way to pin them!
Here is the final look! Truly took 5-10 minutes to do. Spray it good with hair spray.

Step 6

Side view – how cute!

Not into doing it at home?
