Meet Megan | Hyde Park Moms

What’s your favorite thing about living in Hyde Park?
As a Cincinnati native, I’ve always loved the quaintness of Hyde Park. I love the walkability and small businesses. The square reminds me of a movie set. We have such amazing parks, homes and sense of community. It’s the best of city life with a suburban, hometown feel.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
Emory (5.5 year old) daugher
Ford (3 year old) son
Husband (37) Hahaha!
Murphy (10 year old) Morkie
Briggs (9 year old) Maltese

Favorite things to do with your kids around town (can be outside of HP)?
We love going to coffee shops, grabbing a bite to eat or playing in a park. Our kids love taking walks around the neighborhood. We enjoy swimming at Hyde Park Country Club, riding the train at the Zoo, brunch at The Echo, shopping the Hyde Park Farmers Market and who doesn’t love Kids Night in at the Cincinnati Sports Club? It’s a lifesaver for parents too. Goldfish Swim School has been a great addition for our family this summer. During the winter, our favorites include the Children’s Museum, Chick Fil-A (you know you give in too :), Newport Aquarium and LilyPad Play.

Do you have a favorite local store, fitness class or restaurant and why?
Love shopping and supporting local! My favorite Hyde Park boutique is Khaki’s. The owner, Peggy even texts me when something is in that reminds her of me. The fact that it’s less than 100 yards from my office is probably dangerous. For the kids, our one stop shop is Castle House. Love their classic, timeless style for children. Our favorite local restaurant is Echo. I’ve been going there for over 20 years since I dined there with my grandparents. Love catching up with our favorite servers.
My best advice whether you’d new to the city or a lifelong resident, become a regular. It’s such a friendly town and really feels like home when you get to know the employees of your favorite local hot spots.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
Motherhood inspired me to make a huge career change! After 10 years pursuing a career in public education from teacher, to assistant principal and curriculum coordinator, I wanted an opportunity to serve others with greater opportunity for professional and financial growth.
I was excited to begin a second chapter of my professional life with a career in real estate in 2015. Over the past 4 years, I’ve been fortunate to partner with Coldwell Banker West Shell and grow a five person team to have enough hands, minds and hearts to serve our clients needs.
With a completely referral-based business, I am passionate about hiring the right people to treat our clients the way they deserve to be treated.
At the Megan Stacey Group, we consider you family and we want you to have an incredible, positive, and successful experience.  You and your family mean more to us than any sale, and it is why we treat you with the greatest empathy, honesty, and care.
Our mission is to ensure smooth, seamless coordination of a complicated and emotional process by going above and beyond, not just now, but for years to come.  To make this happen we are dedicated to higher standards, problem solving, industry knowledge, responsiveness, and thoroughness.
You can rely on us to be Your Dedicated Real Estate Consultants.  That’s important because the rapid pace of this market can cause people to make impulsive moves.  Our expert consultations will ensure you make smart moves and that you will not overpay⎯especially during the critical negotiation process.

The Megan Stacey Group – Home Sweet Cincinnati

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
I’ve been a member of the Junior League of Cincinnati for over a decade. As a non-profit incubator, it is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers
My service in the league from serving on the Board and as Vice President of Membership has enabled me to volunteer in a city I love, develop lifelong relationships and see my hometown through a brand new lens. The women of the JLC have inspired me to grow as a professional, mother, citizen and business-owner. I credit this experience of being surrounded by like-minded leaders to the ultimate reason I had the courage to change careers as a new mom.

Tips for Balancing it all? Motherhood, career, family and social life?
Hire talent and leverage it. Period.
The truth is, I would not have grown the business I have today if not for the support of my family, husband, kids, nanny, cleaning lady, team and friends. You can’t do it all. It’s not possible.
I didn’t take a maternity leave when Ford was born because I was self-employed. He attended 3 closings in the first week of life, I negotiated a contract in labor and the list goes on. This experience taught me that I needed to leverage support to be more present for my family. While I work 365 days, I also strive to outsource some mom tasks like laundry, cleaning and grocery shopping to sneak in more time with the kids. We’ve had the same nanny for almost 6 years who is our cousin and loves the kids as much as we do. My team is able to serve our clients when I go on vacation, volunteer or when I’m out with friends. I’m forever grateful for all the fabulous people who support us in our daily lives and make life more enjoyable.

What is the best advice you have received as a mom?
I’ve received two pieces of great advice:

  1. Throw away all the books! There is no manual for motherhood. This came from my own mom who believes most of parenthood is following your intuition. Loved this advice because as moms we can become too focused on what everyone else says we should be doing, our kids should be eating, benchmarks they should be achieving, etc.
  2. You can have it all, just not at the same time. A friend with older children shared this from her experience. It’s true. See answer to balance question. All plates won’t be spinning at the same rate at all times. Everything has a season.

What is the one kid product you couldn’t live without – you’re #triedandtrue pick??
Safersit! We have some AMAZING regular babysitters and the best way for us to maintain balance from work to play is to utilize this amazing service. Our kids love all the babysitters and look forward to having fun with them when we have work events or social plans.
