Meet Betsy | Hyde Park Moms

What’s your favorite thing about Hyde Park?
The energy of everyone being so out and about! Everyone is so active and so into their local community.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
Hayden (8), Adeline (6), Ethan (4) and Alex (4)

Favorite things to do with your kids around town (can be outside of HP)?
We love to hike! We love Red Bird Hallow, Ault Park and Grand Valley Preserve but we’re always looking for some place new to get muddy.  During the winter we spend a lot of time at Adrenaline Trampoline Park and Scene 75. We also LOVE a trip to Skyline or Graeters!

Do you have a favorite local store, fitness class or restaurant and why (Can talk about HP businesses or outside)?
I love Rooted Juicery in Oakley. I work from home and it’s a great place to bring my laptop and have access to healthy food.

I also love hot yoga at Body Alive (I’m in it for the lavender towel at the end)!

And last I love Juggle Cincinnati for help with the kids! I use them all the time.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I am! I recently exited the corporate world after 15 years and started my dream business of opening an online paper and gift store! It’s called Elizabeth In Kind (www.elizabethinkind.com). It’s meant to inspire women to be authentic and creative but my mission is to encourage women to be kinder to one another.

My husband and I also founded Polo For Babies (www.poloforbabies) which is a local charity polo match that raises money for Cincinnati Children’s.  Our daughter went into liver failure after birth and suffered many life threatening complications, most significantly in her brain, but Children’s performed a miracle and she is now a healthy, thriving, sweet and sassy 6 year old.  We will always be dedicated to giving back and supporting families that will inevitably face hardship like we did.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Where. Do. I. Begin. My Cincinnati network helped me land my first advertising job in New York City and helped me find great jobs back in Cincinnati. My community has befriended my husband who moved here with me from New York.  This community has supported us as we try and make a difference with Polo for Babies, and has been so supportive as I launch Elizabeth In Kind.  If I don’t know how to do something (which is regularly) there is always someone in Cincinnati who is willing to help me figure it out.

Tips for Balancing it all? Motherhood, career, family and social life?
I ask for help, regularly.  I can’t do it all.  For example, I use Juggle for after school sitters so I can give my time and attention to the kid(s) who need to be driven to sports, to the kid(s) who need help with homework, to the one(s) who are tired and need a playmate etc. It’s a game changer to have a second set of hands.

What is the best advice you have received as a mom?
Give yourself alllll the grace. I remember with my first baby I thought if I didn’t get the schedule right or it was one of those long hard days that the sun just might not come up the next day. Ha! Being a mom is hard.  By the time I had my second, my mantra became (and still is!) “Tomorrow is a new day”.

Tried and True kid’s products?
When my kids were newborns I couldn’t live without SwaddleMe swaddles, Baby Wise sleep training method and my double bob for the twins. Now that everyone is a little older, I’d say I can’t live without a trampoline, sidewalk chalk and scooters/bikes because those are some of the activities that all my kids love to do together.

One thing you couldn’t live without as a Mom?
Coffee!
